Namaste everyone, women Empowerment, so much in buzz right now. The worlds talking about it, but maybe not in it's true sense!
When we read articles on women empowerment, most of it is about, women should liberate themselves, should earn on their own, be self dependent! It's always career oriented, earning on your own, having equal number of women as men in the workplace!
Can you empower a woman by saying, come on get out of your house, don't just be a housewife, get a job, start something, earn on your own? Though this is not exactly what people say, but the basis of it seems to! Unfortunately in name of women empowerment people are saying, oh you are a CEO great,oh you are a housewife poor. Somehow, now women have also joined men in the ugly race for money in name of women empowerment. If a women really wants to pursue something as a personal choice, great! Its like, out of all executive officers only 14.6% are women, only 12.4% are board directors, only 12.5% in upper house, does it mean that when these numbers are above 50% its women empowerment? We should understand women empowerment is not really about numbers, its not really about having some percentage of reservation for women! It is to let them choose what they are the best at,to allow them to choose what they really want to do. By allowing I don't mean we are giving women their freedom, freedom is everyone's right, it just means we stop imposing our thoughts and ideas on women. We can't empower women by saying one thing is lesser significant and the other is very great! Being a housewife, being a mother, bringing up children in the right way, its a whole, long and responsible job, molding the next generation, don't you think? Yet we tell them you need to empower yourself, maybe because we have made it a compulsion that we need to have children, have a family!
Women empowerment in it's true sense is to provide them with equal opportunities as men, to help them become what they aspire to be, not by saying this is inferior or that is superior, to help them grow in what they are the best, not by providing reservation is every field, not by just getting them into the race because men are there, not just to prove the world, that women can do it too! If she truly wants to pursue it, is good at it,so be it!
