Namaste evryone, so the first sunday of August, Friendships day. This seems like just another topic, friendship and the ideas we have about it, or at least what we expect of it in today's time.
Suppose you are going to meet a few old friends and you want to spend some time together, one of the most common things is to get to a pub, gossip, drink. Not that there's some moral values attached to it, but as humans we have lost our ability to observe and analyse the effects these things have. Its become a Status Quo among circles that you drink, smoke etc. If we really had the discernment to keep aside the so called peer pressure, status quo and really look at it, as in what way does drinking contribute to your life, not based on morality. The moment you open it, your nose is giving you an indication, you put it on your tongue and the indication is much clear, you gulp it down your throat and it is very obvious that the body isn't comfortable with it.Many a times the reason is that we have been conditioning ourselves, that you can't dance freely, you can't keep aside your issues at work, you can't manage your own body, so you need a dose to just loosen up a little bit? Why is that when friends meet even after a long time, why is not possible to play a sport( if you are fit enough), go out , have nice food, dance or basically you just can't bear each other's company even for a few hours without intoxication? Have we run out of ideas, to do much more sensible and fun filled things. And if it is the case with most of friendships, then the point being very simple, what is it that you are contributing? What is it that is enhancing our lives? Or we have got used to living like a parasite?

What is it that we being friends is enhancing your/my life in any way?
We(at least I had) have this childish idea that friends, atleast some friends are special and they will last forever.Just shows how divorced we our from our culture, how divorced we are from the basic ideas and nuances of Runanubandha.
Anyways, Happy Friendship Day!
P. S. Many things are to be learnt in life and I learnt this from Sriguru Rohit Arya. It's quite an intriguing question to ask to yourself and not as an advise to people.
